Hometown: Denver, Colorado
Where did you go for undergrad and what did you major in?
I attended the University of Colorado Boulder. At CU I attained a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in political science. I also hold two certificates in Community Sustainability Management and in Business Sustainability Management.
Why did you choose to attend DURP at UIUC?
I wanted not only an opportunity to learn the theoretical foundations of planning, but a campus environment that I would enjoy living in. UIUC was home to one of the best research-based planning programs in the United States, but it is also the center of a beautiful city with strong community and social organizations. One organization here on campus was well-known to me long before I even considered graduate school. When I was researching schools and found that UIUC had a strong graduate planning program - and I mean this sincerely, it was the only school that I really wanted to be at.
What are your career ambitions?
My ultimate ambition is to complete a doctorate degree and to perform academic research at the intersection of urban planning, sustainability and computer science.
